Good Morning to you all. I've got a fat psp with 3.73 sony firmware on it, and it's originally a 2.60. So what CFW do I need to download first? I've read conflicting information, NONE of which was too clear for me to figure out. I've seen so many different versions of the darkalex stuff, that I am now thoroughly confused as where to start. I'm not afraid to install cfw, just want any help and advice I can find prior to modding my PSP properly. BTW, one of the things I'm also interested in is converting old PSX games via my PC to land them on my PSP. I've got a few old discs laying around, and since I already own them, well....

If anyone has a link to a good tutorial for the appropriate cfw, I would appreciate it. All advice welcome.

thanks,

Hi loudest143, and welcome to Console-Spot. smile.gif

Before you will be able to install any custom firmware, you will need to get hold of a Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick, or have someone with downgrade and/or install custom firmware on your PSP for you.
A Pandora's Battery is a PSP battery modified (by software running on a homebrew-enabled PSP) to enter service mode on the PSP.
A Magic Memory Stick is a PSP memory stick modified (again by software, but can be done on the PC) to have something for the Pandora's Battery to load (i.e. the downgrader).
If you don't know anyone with a homebrew-enabled (custom firmware or 1.50 firmware) PSP then you might want to get someone to downgrade your PSP for you from here or here.

Ahhh, something that I had suspected all along.... I will just have to wait until DA or one of the other supergenius coder types makes it all so simple even a caveman can do it. Until then, I will enjoy what I have: a fully functioning PSP! (well, as far as Sony considers as fully fuctional)

Thanks for the help and advice. I am glad you are here to help.
