Dark_AleX is back with a new custom firmware which fixes some bugs in 3.71 M33-2 and includes an updated PopsLoader with support for all versions (including 3.72).

From the readme file:
QUOTE
3.71 M33-3

Requirements:

- 3.71 M33 1 or 2

Installation:

Copy the update folder to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE and run it.

Changes:

- Fixed a bug in access to flash by usb.

- HEN core: kernel prx's with syscall exports work again.

- PSP Slim: programmers can set the size of user memory to 52 MB by using a sfo flag.
Check sample in sdk for usage.

- March33 NO-UMD driver:
* Fixed a bug that could hang the psp when exiting with home.
* Fixed compatibility issue with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, and maybe more games.

- Vshmenu: it wasn't displaying properly with psp slim TV-OUT due to the change of resolution.
Fixed.

Included with the release is a new version of popsloader:

Requeriments:

- 3.71 M33-3 or higher (until sonye makes it not to work again tongue.gif).
It won't work in prior versions of 3.71 M33, because it needs a function from 3.71 M33-3.

Changes:

- Support for 3.71 and 3.72 pops has been added. Note that 3.71 however will not appear in the
list in 3.71 M33 as it is not necessary.

List of files needed for each version:

3.00-3.03: kd/popsman.prx, kd/meaudio.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.10-3.30: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.40-3.72: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx, vsh/module/libpspvmc.prx

The files must be decrypted. (use square in psardumper). Support for encrypted&packed files is planned for the future.

I'm on 3.71 M33-2 and haven't had any problems.
It should be safe to upgrade to 3.71 M33-3 now (via 3.71 M33).

I haven't got around to doing the update yet so I'm not sure if it includes the 1.50 kernel addon or if you have to use the 3.71 M33-2 one.

If your truly worried, or like me you just haven't like what you've seen from 3.71 M33 thus far, go to 3.52 M33-4, it's a spectacular FW, with great compatibility. The only reason you would need to go to 3.71 M33 is to have the latest FW, and since Sony doesn't force you to update with new games anymore, there's really no need to have the latest. I still flash my themes, laugh.gif this newage built in theme stuff is making people lazy.

I think i'm gonna update to this.

On 3.71 M33, copy the UPDATE folder to "ms:\PSP\GAME\" and run it.
seplugins is for the PopsLoader plugin.
SDK is for developers.

I meant the PopsLoader plugin (sorry, I was in a rush).

If you want to use the PopsLoader plugin (which lets you use other versions of the PS1 emulator):
- copy seplugins to the root of your memory stick "ms:\"
- copy the Sony prx modules from the appropriate versions to the "popsloader" folder, as described in the readme
I'm going to upload the whole set of Sony prx files for the PopsLoader plugin once I have finished extracting them.

No, you shouldn't need to access flash0.

wait so do I really need to install the seplugins? I hae CFW 3.71 m33-1 so if I dont install the plugins wat part of gaming does that effect? I cant play psx games? or gba emulator? thanks in advance!
adw888
As promised, I've uploaded the required PRX files to use the new PopsLoader plugin with 3.71 M33-3.

You need to have 3.71 M33-3 and have copied the "seplugins" folder in the main archive to the root of your memory stick ("ms:\").
Then just copy the "seplugins" folder in the 3.71 M33-3 support archive (attached) to "ms:\" and let it overwrite any existing files.
Finally, enable the plugin in Recovery Mode (hold R when booting after a hard reset).
To use it, hold R when booting a PS1 game to bring up the menu to choose your Pops version.

In the archive, I've included the files for 3.00, 3.01, 3.02, 3.03, 3.10, 3.11, 3.30, 3.40, 3.50, 3.51, 3.52, 3.70, 3.71 and 3.72.
I think that's all the versions (even 3.71 which is not strictly necessary) but if it isn't I can update it.

No, you could just install the main 3.71 M33-3 update.

QUOTE(Lucki @ Nov 9 2007, 09:54 PM) *

It just means you won't get to choose between the built-in 3.71 PS1 emulator, and the other ones from the other firmware versions.

QUOTE(Lucki @ Nov 9 2007, 09:54 PM) *

You will still be able to play PS1 games.
I haven't checked the GBA emulator; you might have to reinstall the 1.50 kernel addon, I'm not sure.
I'm about to do the update so I'll check on the 1.50 kernel homebrew.

It means you get the 3.71 PS1 emulator (built-in) and all the other versions (3.00-3.72).
It's useful because some games run better on older versions of the PS1 emulator.

QUOTE(bububang @ Nov 10 2007, 05:39 AM) *

You don't have to enable it if you don't intend to use it.
It's under 'Plugins' in the main menu of Recovery Mode.
Then you hold R when loading a PS1 game to bring up the menu to choose which version you want to use.

hey guys! I'm actually new to this M33 thing.. been using OE firmware (upgraded it myself) until i heard the news about the great features of 3.71 m33 (like for music, videos and themes).. bcoz of that i upgraded to 3.71 M33-2 (by paying someone to do it). I actually don't know ANYTHING about the Pandora thing and the Nand backup.. I have checked the internet today and found out that this FW is very dangerous that you might get a Full brick unless you have a Nand-dump backup (w/c i really don't know what it is).. then i found this 3.71 M33-2 fix (M33-3).. does this mean that i don't have to worry about getting a full psp brick anymore?.. cuz you know, i don't have any Nand backup since i don't know how to do it.. and i don't own a pandora's battery/ms since i don't know where to get it.. i just paid someone to upgrade my FW so that i can enjoy these new features(custom themes) and games.. Thank you very much!.. hoping for a TRUE answer.. and sorry for being such a newbie.. ^^

The only way you could get a full brick on 3.71 M33-2 is if you accessed flash0 via USB from Recovery Mode.
Updating to 3.71 M33-3 is a good idea as it fixes this problem.
After installing 3.71 M33-3, it would still be good to have a NAND backup just in case.

Are you sure you are updating to 3.71 M33 and not 3.71 M33-2 or M33-3?
I think I updated from 3.52 M33-4 to 3.71 M33 so it should work.

is this also applicable to a PSP -1000(PSP from Japan) version 3.72?

if yes, can now i play PS1 games or other psp games found in this site?

Unfortunately not, you will have to get your PSP downgraded and/or have custom firmware installed before applying this update.
To do that, you will need to get hold of a Pandora's Battery, or get someone with a homebrew-enabled PSP to do it for you.

Thank you sir. Just one last question (if you don't mind).. i've been enjoying this new feature (the one with the custom themes).. but i've been thinking .. is frequent changing of themes dangerous?? will this also cause damage to my console? ( cuz i've read that changing themes and stuffs in your psp means you access your flash0 and change or overwrite some files there).. i love custom themes (i've dloaded about 50+ themes ^^) but i'm really scared to use it (sounds stupid eh? ^^).. please help.. thanks a bunch!

How are you applying these custom themes?
It was only really dangerous on 3.71 M33-2 via flash0 in Recovery Mode.

After you access it via the XMB, it should ask for confirmation, then you'll see it writing files and usually it auto-restarts.
Sometimes you will need to press O on the blue screen (I think I did for 3.71 M33-3 but I'm not sure).

Will it cause infinity loop?

Because last time i read from somewhere.. on the BSOD screen.. when its prompt u to press O will cause infinity loop which will full brick psp. unsure.gif
