I am guessing that you have Sony's official 3.71 firmware.
With that, you won't be able to play games off your memory stick.

You will need to install custom firmware (such as 3.71 M33-2) to play full games off your memory stick.
To do that you will need to get access to a Pandora's Battery.
You can either make one yourself (which needs a homebrew-enabled PSP) or buy a Datel TOOL battery.

Or you can get someone to install custom firmware for you from the lists here and here.

yup...you gotta love homebrew!

It's a normal battery, converted into a Pandora Battery, and a normal memory stick, converted into a Magic Memory Stick.

The files for the memory stick can be found on the internet, as can the files for the battery, but the files for the battery need to be run on a homebrew-enabled PSP.
If you don't have access to a homebrew-enabled PSP, you can buy a pre-converted Pandora Battery or a Datel TOOL battery.
