Full Version: My 3.40 oe -a Can't Play Original Vice City Stories

Noob here, please bear with me. My psp is running 3.40 oe -a and I can play any downloaded games (cso's or iso's) without any problems. If I like the game enough, I will purchase the original game. I bought Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (GTA:VCS) and when I popped it in, it said "the disc could not be read". The game has no scratches at all.

My psp plays other original games fine like Liberty City Stories and World Series of Poker, but I can't get it to play the original GTA:VCS.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to fix this? Someone, anyone... please help!

Thanks

Hi gremlinz, and welcome to PSP-Spot. smile.gif

Firstly, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who buys games that I like.
However, I've never heard of a problem affecting only one real UMD game before.
It sounds like the UMD might just be faulty if your other games work.

I suppose you could try updating to 3.52 M33, but I doubt that that will do anything.

Nice to be a member here, thanks. I paid someone to mod my psp to 3.40 oe-a as I was afraid of bricking it myself. Upgrading it to 3.52 M33 would be nice, but I don't trust myself doing that and I don't want to pay someone else everytime I need an upgrade. It sucks having my cake and not being able to eat it.

I'd like to test the umd game, GTA:VCS, on a non-modded psp, but everyone I know has a DS Lite (forgive them, they don't know any better lol).

The original game is new, so I don't think it's the umd. I'll have to look into some sort of solution. Do you think it could be something I could change in the recovery mode settings?

You could try disabling 'No-UMD' if it is enabled but it shouldn't make any difference for real UMDs.
