It's true that Japan has far more colors to choose from than the upcoming American launch of the redesigned PSP. However, did you know that Japanese customers are facing serious restrictions too?

Sofmap in Akihabara has been meeting such wild demand for the redesigned PSP that customers are limited to only one system pre-order ... and aren't given the choice to pick a color. Amazon Japan pre-orders are already closed due to overwhelming demand.

It's great to see PSP start picking up the spotlight in a territory that's typically been dominated by a different handheld.

I've found it really annoying as well when I post links.

On the actual topic, it is typical monopolist behavior by Sony; restricting supply to allow them to increase the price and make higher profits on each unit. And they wonder why they trail the DS.

1 USD = Approx 115 Yen

19800 / 115 = 172 USD


Their 19800 Yen may or may not include Japan's equivalent of sales tax, and that shop selling the pre-orders most likely has jacked the price up a notch to make some more money from the huge demand.

im glad this isnt happening in england where i live because, if i were to get one (im not eve thinking about it because i love homebrew too much to give it up for a few days until they hack the new psp) and i werent aloud to choose the colour n got summin like pink, i would be GUTTED

Well good thing I pre-ordered my Final Fantasy PSP Slim when I did. The Slims are great guys!
