Japanese homebrew developer SofiyaCat has ported the Nintendo DS emulator DeSmuME to PSP. It’s extremely slow, so don’t expect it to run anything well, but it does prove DS emulation is possible on the PSP.
Above is a screenshot of the emulator running DS homebrew game GeoWars.
Download DeSmuME PSPUpdate: Here’s a guide on how to install DeSmuME, of course you must have a homebrew-capable PSP.
* Move the 150 folder contained in the archive to GAME or GAME150 on your memory stick.
* Download any DS homebrew game, GeoWars for example.
* Rename the game’s NDS file to test.nds
* Move test.nds to the 150 folder.
* Navigate to the Game menu on your PSP and start the emulator. The game will load automatically.

It's a good start, I wonder how they're going to implement the touch screen though.
And does anyone know how good DeSmuME (on the PC) actually is?

Since the DS only has 1 d-pad then I guess if the author of this homebrew is smart enough then perhaps make it so the analog one controls a kind of mouse pointer? Not quite touch screen but the next nearest-kind-of-thing.
Either that or only allow it to run games out there that don't necessarily require the touch screen. There are some, I know for a fact you can play FF3 on the DS without touching.

Ya not quite as touch screen... It will be very hard to play games like elite beat agents and Metroid prime where you have to touch the screen all the time. But then some other games, you wont need touch screen.
Just buy the DS, it is a very good system.

Thanks for the info; when I get some time I'll try out the PC version first.

Yes, it should be safe.
I haven't tried it myself but I seriously doubt that it would need to write to flash (the only way in which bricking could happen).

Aw i wish i had time to make my news more informative as yours
I tried it and its safe but i don't think DeSume is any good, i tried it several times and version and it never worked,
i think No$GBA is a good NDS Emulator.

Hopefully this will run at full speed someday, and the touch screen will somehow be incorporated into the psp, maybe with the analog stick.

Wow... this is amazing. I already have a DS, so no point in downloading it if it comes out. Keep up the good work though.
