You need to convert PS1 ISOs to the PSP EBOOT format, and put them in their own folder in "ms:\PSP\GAME\".

The emulator is already in the custom firmware.
Yes, you need to rip the PS1 game discs as ISO, and then convert them.
A nice converter is PSX2PSP v1.2.

Nope newest CFW has built in PSX emulators. just go to this site and everything will be a snap.

Yes.

Firstly i ripped the iso using alcahol 120 of 007 tommorow never dies.
Ok so i used a simple pop station to convert my 007 Tommorow Never Dies ISO to eboot.pbp
ive then loaded it into my game folder and it always goes to the game could not be started error
i havent used custom icons ive just left the default sony ones in the simple pop station
ive tried moving the game to game150 folder and the game 340 folder and still the same error.
Ive only tried tommorow never dies so far, so today i bought tony hawks and tekken 1 from cash generator and im gonna try them later

ive followed the calohacks tutorial completely but is there something im missing? some other program i need??
or do i need to name the ISO correctly when ripping? there are PAL games im ripping and converting, but the simple pop station converts them right??

EDIT: Do i need to go into recovery or something and switch to 150 kernel( iread this in another tutorial)
ALSO: the pop station convertor im using says you need 3.03eac firmware, so is it creating eboots specific to that firmware, do i need a convertor that creates eboots specific to 3.40oea??

All i wanna do is run metal gear solid, tekken 3 and some others sad.gif wah! wah!

You need to make another folder in the GAME folder, like: "ms:\PSP\GAME\TND\" and put the EBOOT.PBP (and maybe the KEYS.BIN, I'm not sure) in there.

I've uploaded PSX2PSP v1.2 to convert the ISO to EBOOT.

Ok so ive used the PSX2PSP convertor which is very simple and handy - Thanks adw888 smile.gif
Please note to anyone getting you will need to find the base.pbp file for it, luckily i got mine from simple popstation program.

After using alcahol to rip ISOs and using PSX2PSP to convert to eboot it didnt work - so i went into recovery mode, turn off psp, turn on holding R shoulder buttond, went into config, then disabled SCE logo skip and TADAA! i had PSX emulation on my PSP

hope that little extra info helps smile.gif

Cheers for all your help guys!

Good to hear you got it working, enverse. smile.gif
So it was the "Skip SCE Logo" that was causing the problem (at least partially); thanks for the info.
