yes such cables exist, but unless you have a monitor and a freeview box with an HDMI output on it, your freeview box will have to have a separate output for sound because although Scart carrys audio and video, VGA cables do not, so yr set-up will look sumfin like that

an example of my AMAZING art skills an my PERFECT handwriting laugh.gif

although converter cables are not suitable for monitors designed solely for computer use. (The screen must support a horizontal scan rate of 15.625KHz- most projectors, plasma and LCD panels do whereas CRT monitors dont)

hope that helps dude wink.gif

However, you should choose to buy a TV tuner, depending on which type you go for functions and quality vary and there are cheap digital ones on the market. Moreover, windows media center edition and windows vista are bundled with windows media center- meaning you can watch, pause and record live tv...without the need for any other hardware or software. Moreover, there are a number of open source applications which play tv from your tv tuner. The majority of tv tuners just need an aerial but i advise you get an internal pci card and a good Ariel.

yea "media portal" is a really good media centre program, its a complete rip off of Windows Media Centre except its completely free an tbh in my opinion is actually better than Windows MCE because there loads of free plug-ins and skins you can easyly get for it.
