ok i JUST got a copy of Lumines from eBay and am gonna downgrade my PSP tomorrow if i can so can anyone give me some info about what each CFW is best for so i can make a decision on which i want to upgrade too? thanks in advance

I'd recommend only going to 3.30oe or 3.40oe until you get the hang of CFW. There both great firmwares!

for me the most stable cfw is 3.03 oe-c, 3.40 oe-a is also great... all of them are basically the same, you can play isos, emulators, homebrew & custom xmbs... the only difference is that the higher the cfw supports newer games that would require a higher firmware... if you like to have at least the latest then go for 3.40 oe-a...

No, each is exactly the same, although the higher up it goes the better the PSX support gets. I really recemmend 3.40 OE-A, as in my opinion someone who has used and modded all CFWs 3.40 OE-A is the best, plus my Bleach themes are only supported by 3.3/3.4 OE. My 3.40 OE-A Easy Installer All the work is done for you. After reaching 1.5, just throw the 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% in your game folder, and run it, and don't worry this has been tested by me and others, but there's still a risk.

yeah 3.40oe-a is good because it is higher FW. But if u dont have any new games over 3.03, get 3.03oe-c. Im running it and i haven't had one problem.

and there is also that russian CW (3.51M33) but there is something about that telling me not to upgrade to it haha.

You run the Easy Installer from the PSP menu.
