Sony’s PlayStation Premiere in Japan has been full of surprises for both PS3 and PSP. Kojima was even at the show to share a few Metal Gear announcements.
Many PS3 gamers are looking forward to the upcoming MGS4 and were happy with the latest E3 trailer, but Kojima had something to add to the excitement. Along with the game will come a online experience similar to MGS3: Subsistence built just for the PS3 system. The announcement came shortly after Kojima was showing off some gameplay of the new game at the PlayStation Premiere show.
Kojima didn’t reveal much more about the specifics, but did state the game will be playable at the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary event being held next week in Tokyo. At the event Kojima will also reveal the specifics of what gamers can expect from the hotly anticipated title. As of now the online iteration could be separate from MGS4 itself, but hopefully things will be cleared up next week.
Along with showing off some MGS4, Kojima also revealed an expansion pack for PSP. The game will be called Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus and will be available later this year. The game will feature a revamped online, new levels and game modes for both single and multiplayer, and offer new playable characters. One of the new playable characters will be Solid Snake, a.k.a Old Snake, from the upcoming MGS4 for PS3, and will play the same as the PS3 version.
Along with the announcement Kojima released a new trailer of the PSP game which can be found on the official Metal Gear site.
