My friend was thinking about going to custom firmware. He wants to know if he can go back to the official firmware if he doesnt like the custom firmware. If he can, can anybody explain?

Yes you can, you can recover to 1.5 and then update to another official firmware but I'm 90% sure he won't want to.

It wouldnt make sense to upgrade to official fw after seeing custom fw. Regardless, just follow what Bomberz said if necessary.

i thought you couldnt upgrade past a certain fw, like 3.10 or somethin, if you had a ta-82 because of the modified idstorage. is there a way to change it back to original idstorage? and now that dark alex is gone there is no 3.5 oe and if no one picks it up you may need to go back to official and sacrifice everything to play new games.

I see what you getting at about new games but noobz is working on it and your "friend" might want to wait for that. Also if you want a really good guide on downgrading back to an official or another custom firmware here is a great guide:

Note: Take the spaces out of the url (psp-spot seems to have a fued with them)

and why would anyone go back to official fw after installing cfw??? there's no life in using official fw LOL... well even dark alex is out of the psp scene there are others who are developing new cfw's so there's nothing to worry about playing new games that requires higher firmwares...

Just like 3.51m33, but I wont bother with it, I would wait for it to become recognized as being a good thing, then go for it.

yeah but i'm sure DA will come back he won't resist to crack 3.6 lol

If it's a TA-082 then currently he can not go back to official 3.51 firmware because once u've downgrade your psp, the official update can detect that and refuse to update because the ID storage key in the psp is corrupted

I've never paid much attention to TA-082 and upgrading back to official firmwares, but if what you say is true (which I think it is), then couldn't you reverse the change in the idstorage back to what it was before if you really wanted to upgrade to 3.51?
Or aren't there any tools that do that?

i already brought up the ta-82 issue with the idstorage problem earlier in the thread. and also asked if there was something to change the idstorage back to what it should be. currently i am unaware of any such homebrew. on the plus side only my white psp is a ta-82 out of all the psps i downgraded so its not a problem if they want to go back to official and i dont plan to go back to official.

noobz.eu say they are working on going back to higher official firmware versions on TA-082+: http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/news/more-v3.50...nformation.html

If I was your friend, I'd just go to 3.03 oe-c. It's the best firmware out there in terms of customisation, and pretty good all round...

As said before, all he would need to do is launch the recovery EBOOT to return to 1.50, then upgrade to whatever official firware he wants.

huh.gif But WHY would anyone do that????
