On Tuesday my TA82 PSP with cf 3.40oe fully bricked.
On Wednesday I Phoned Sony & decided to opt for a replacement PSP.
Today it arrived. smile.gif

The best thing is that it came with fw 2.71 & it has a TA81 motherboard. biggrin.gif

I can't beleve it, I thought Sony would make sure it was homebrew proof before they sent it out.

Don't know how to react. I guess you got extra lucky.

one that was dumb all you had to do was recover to 1.50 with your custom firmware or find the flash0 files. two how the hell did you get a 2.71 psp all the psp's they ship are at atleast 3.40 official firmware. if that is "true" you are lucky as hell.

My PSP was fully bricked, which meant I could'nt access the recovery menu.

It makes sense espically if you're here in the US, stock PSPs are FW 2.71.

I now have a PSP wth cf 3.40oe once again & I can also install the official firmware if needed in the future (even though this will never happen) due to the mother board being ta81.

Maybe the reason I got a PSP from Sony with fw 2.71, is they haven't got rid of all 2.71 PSPs yet.

This is how I bricked my PSP.

I messed around with the flash0 which caused errors while using the psp.
I thought I would format the flash0 using windows, It was a stupid, dumb & idiotic thing to do. I ended up with my flash0 space as 1.9gb & after replacing my flash0 backup files I rebooted my PSP & it was fully bricked.

At this point I couldnt beleve how stupid I had been, it was like I had a moment of insanity. wacko.gif

First, that is really good way to brick. Since u know it was a bonehead move I am not going to rip on you, other than calling u a bonehead that is biggrin.gif

Secondly, u are very lucky, that is the stuff legends are made of.

was this replacement free? or did you have to pay? your damn lucky you are!
zelrock
Yes the replacement was free.

When I phoned Sony the told me that I may have to pay £60 for a replacement.

If you want Sony to replace your bricked PSP for free heres a few tips.

If they say 'have you got you're receipt?' say 'I don't think if I have it'. They will say this because they want you to deal with it, they recommend you take it back to the store where you bought it.

Then they may say how long have you had the PSP? I said about 2-3 months, this ensured them that I couldnt take it back to the store I bought it anyway, as most stores have a 30 day limit to return items.

If they say 'is your'e PSP second' hand say 'no its new'.

After telling them my PSP wasnt working & saying 'the green light come's on but the screen doesn't', they said it may be my battery. I knew the battery was ok but I didnt want them to know so I said 'my brother has a psp, shall I try his battery. They will say ok, then just say i'll try it now be back in a minute. After a minute pick up the phone & say its just the same it wont start.

At this point they will hopefully get sick of you and say 'ok we'll replace it for you', and you dont have to pay.
se_p800
Lol thats a good idea. But it we all start doing it i think they'll catch on.
