I just bought a 4gb MS now my problem is that I can't put numerous files in it.

For example, in the mp3 folder.. only 30 of my songs play while all others become corrupted.

in the videos folder, my previous files coming from 1gb is unrecognized in this 4gb ms.

i put all my psx iso's in th psp/game folder and i haven't encountered problems up until now when i try to put in more than one iso.. the first iso will be okay bu all others become corrupt.. It really annoys me so because i want to put a large number of files in it SINCE IT'S A FREAKIN 4gb MS!!

All corrupt files become difficult to delete by itself so i reformat my ms over and over and over again damn what's wrong with this ms!! am I alone on this?!

r_ferns82 I have exactly the same problem. I boutght 2 4gb cards from ebay( different sellers). The first will hold about 2Gb all files after that are corrupt and may not show up at all. The other card is worse in that it will only hold about 750Mb after which all data is corrupt. Reformatting ths cards will do no good. It is bacause they are fakes!! best you can do is try for a replacement or refund. Seems to be quiet a common problem with fake cards. I have sent one back the second guy is ignoring my e-mails.

sorry sounds like a classic fake. if you cant play the files that show up using your computer then its definately fake. try connecting the psp using the usb and playing the files using the psp as an external drive. like your music or video files or somethin.

but there are some files that do play! some songs and ISO's but so very limited! my 1gb works better than it though. the speed of the MS is even fast! NOOOO

thats because the files that are in the good area of the mem stick will play. but the memstick has been hacked to show more memory then it has so anything beyond the actual stick size will not play. it was a huge thing with the 2 gig stick they would put hackeed 512 to show 2 gigs but any files bigger than 512 would not show up on the psp or play off the memstick. the first files dragged to the stick are usually fine.

OMG so that's it! if that's the case I bet mine's just 512mb in reality is that what you mean? I mean, some files that reach about 400mb still open as long as there is only one errrrrrr

yeah it might be a hacked 512 chip to show more memory than it has, but the data is really in sectors that dont exist so they cannot be played or read. and as long as the file isnt over the chip cap it should play so if it is 512 any data up to 512 should play fine anything that goes over wont play.

I had the same exact problem. I bought five 4GB MS and out of the 5 only one of them was real. It is VERY easy to spot a fake with a PSP. All MS are supposed to have Magicgate, or at least all the real ones. If you put the MS into the psp and check the information of it (do this by scrolling to it and press triangle), it will tell you if it is a fake. Where it says MagicGate it should say supported, fake MS will make it say unkown instead of supported.

So what do you do now?

Well I bought all 5 MS for just under $35 (shipping included), even the real one. The fake ones I sold them on Amazon.com for $50 a piece. If you do the same just make sure that you put it in the description that it is NOT made by sony. Don't say it's a fake just say not made by sony. I sold the four fakes in just under a day. It depends on the price you set it at. When all was said and done I made $25 and I had a free 4GB memory stick.


I hate the fake ones. It takes twice as long to load data onto it and then there is a very high chance that it will show up as a corrupt file. The real ones are amazing. I have like 200 songs and about 4 movies on there, none of them show up as corrupt files. I still have enough space to add another 4 movies.

i read that before too, but not all psps even show magicgate status. mine doesnt i checked. other people had the same problem.. it doesnt say unkownn or supported, its just not there.

I guess it's gatta be the firmware. I have the 3.40.

yeah i read its fw above 1.5, which custom firmware is basically using. so anyone on custom cant see the magicgate status.

Speaking of firmware....

I know that this isn't the best place to be asking this question, but I don't feel like starting a new thread or finding one about this topic. Anyways I just got my PSP, like maybe 3 weeks ago. And I am completely confused.

1. What is the best type of custom firmware?
2. How do you install it?
3. I downloaded a CSO converted it into an ISO and I have no idea how to get it to play on my PSP. Is this because I need a specific type of firmware?

If someone who is really good at this and has time please PM me and explain this stuff to me. I have a Mac and therefore it is a *itch to find the software needed for this stuff (if there is any software). I know that these are probably stupid questions, but I am really new to this and need help.

you cant. you have to be on 3.03 or lower to downgrade so you can put custom fw on. without custom fw you cant play the iso/csos you download

about your prob, psp lover, evol edo's right. you can't downgrade from 3.40 because its downgrader has yet to be made. i don't know about it much though since i haven't checked the homebrew scene. if you're lucky enough to be friends with dark Alex then maybe you can tell him to make one for you ^^,

Any idea on how long it takes for someone to release a downgrader. I know 3.40 is just months old, but how long did it take the other downgraders to be made and released? I just want an estimate, nothing exact.

downgraders come out when exploits are found. there are currently no known exploits to any firmware above 3.03 so as we said you cant do anything. if you had 3.03 you would need gta:lcs to downgrade. but you have 3.4 so you can do nothing. there may not be an exploit found so you could be waiting forever and still end up with nothing. its not like programming where you can set a finish date. its either found or not found. you cant just say ok im going to find the exploit so i can make a downgrader by this date.
