i just got a 4gb card and it says i only have 1.5gb of space and its brand new can anyone help or atleast point me in the right direction

if you bought it off ebay it could be fake.

Try formating it and if its FAT compression, change it too NTFS. Thats not a guarantee to solving the problem because you might have got ripped.
I had a 512mb thumbdrive and it was only holding 128mb, I was pissed.

It sounds like a "classic" ebay fake mem card.

Agreed, it could be a fake or it can be formatting.
After reformatting you should have atleast 3.5+GB space available. If not, someone may have swapped the outer shell of the memory stick with a 2GB or something or its a complete fake

if its a real one after formating you should get 3.67/3.68 gb of space

Yeah try reformatting it if it does not work there is a big chance its a fake memory card ..
