I was just wondering what others thought about the PSP and the DS. I have arguments with my brother over whose is better (i have a psp he has a ds and he insists its better or at least equal). But to defend the ds it has much easier to use homebrew capabilities (not many good games or anything but much easier to do hb on) since nintendo doesn't care about that too much. I want to hear from you guys on some of the ups and downs of both.

I personally think that psp is superior in all catagories except in ease of use for homebrew since the DS is just drag and drop right out of the box.

wasnt there already a topic on this? anyways how does the ds have better homebrew capabilities? especially when everything homebrew on the ds has to be run off a cart system. it depends what you are comparing. graphics, screen size, homebrew support and development all go to the psp. innovation goes to the ds. fun factor of games goes to ds slightly, but if you factor in homebrew, emulators, psx games id give it to psp. if i could play ds games on my psp i wouldnt have one. but since i cant, i have a ds for ds games and psp for everything else.

if i could only have one with homebrew it would be psp, if neither had homebrew id take the ds. for a kid it would be the ds.

DS might be fun, but Nintendo is for kids
The console lacks good games tongue.gif
For mature gamers atleast

The PSP has a wider variety, and is easier to hack it
The availability of content for the PSP is also easier to reach

Nintendo is very fun with there games that's why I chose a DS over a PSP but I like the way PSP has a HUGE screen and it is easier to hack. but another thing I don't like about the PSP is that it's just too much money... (case because is breaks easily, memory card ect.) but I like the way it feels in your hands but with the DS it just feels like a block in your hands but I base my systems because of the games that's why I support Microsoft and Nintendo (and PS1,2 not 3 sadly sad.gif)
Ash
DS=Only good for touch screen, there arent very many good games for it either

PSP=Better because u can hack it and use homebew/isos

psp 170 + 2gig mem stick 30= 200
ds 130+ r4 card 40+ 2gig micro sd 30 = 200

thats why i bought the psp before the ds it was a better value given all it can do.
Ash
i didnt know u could put a micro sd in the ds. and whats a r4 card

r4 is the r4 revolution its a slot 1 adaptor that uses the micro sd. another solution would be the m3 simply card. but they are basically the same card. they even share firmware updates and discoveries with eachother. its so you can play homebrew and backup games. it also lets you run moonshell to play videos in dpg format and mp3s. you are supposed to be able to run other homebrews too but i havnt found any good ones yet.

the ds screen features dont appeal to me. i get anal about my screens gettin scratched up or dirty and greasy. im forever wiping my psp off. but until the ds has rss and mp3 and web browsers i dont think ds will ever top the psp. i love my psp. ive waited forever to get it and i think that i have not waited in vain cause it rocks

with the r4 revolution, you get video and mp3. and there is a browser but it needs an expansion pack from what i hear. there is also supposed to be a tv tuner.

and i know how you feel im costantly wiping down my psp. and its white so you see smudges less and i still do it. ill look at it in the light before putting it away so i can see smudges.

DS is really fun

PSP is more diverse

(And don't kid yourselves people. BOTH these systems are for kids. I don't care how much blood and violence a game has, It's still a VIDEO GAME!!!) I'm naturally child-like so I don't care laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

The browser is called okiwi, but you have to convert the files to work on a m2 ds simply.
Good luck,

even with the edit of your original post how does the ds have easier to use homebrew? psp is drag and drop also, that is if you are able to get to a custom firmware, and it doesnt require an add on slot cart.
