My psp is now busted. I was playing Socom with my friends and i had to take a piss. I rushed into the bathroom after a round was over and set it down on a shelf. After i finished my piss, I went to grab my psp and it slipped out of my hands and into the toliet. I hadn't even flushed yet. I stuck my hand right in to get it out but the damage had been done.
I opend up the psp and dryed it all out. The only problems with it now is that it can't read from a UMD, the analog stick moves tha player or gun or whatever very slowly even though i am pushing it in one direction all the way, and the psp thinks i am pushing the select button every second, but i am not. As you can see, these problems make it very frustating to play. I need a new psp.

Does anyone know what firmware new psp are being shipped with? If I bought one at target, would there be a chance of me getting a psp with firmware 3.03 or less? Otherwise i am just going to have to buy from ebay to get custom firmware. Unless anyone knows of a place where i can a psp that i can downgrade.

Believe it or not but most of them still on the shelves are with 2.71 so you might still get lucky!

wow, i dropped my psp on the bus and it slid all the way to the front ( i was sitting in the back) i almost cryed, mind you i dont have a screen protector and the case fell off.. i picked it up, two tiny scratches that you can barely see, couldnt believe it lol

ur lucky because every psp now at stores r all under version 3.03. and did ur psp smell like piss. nasty. that sucks for u. that almost happened to me but i hit my psp right before it fell into a pile of clothes. no dameged done. i was lucky

yeah my psp's analog stick ripped out and i exchanged it at best buy and they gave me a brand new 2.71 psp

so ithink a target wud be the same. thats a pretty grimey psp. flush first the psp wudnt have gone down the drain.

also my friend dropped his psp rly bad. the screen got a tiny crack, and it thought he was pushing the home btton and the lower volume button alll the time.

If you buy yer PSP now you have a 99.99% chance of getting a 2.71 PSP but if you read this http://www.psp-spot.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39909 it say that that'll possibly change very soon for Canada and more or most likely US.

Like I said almost 99.99% or PSPs sold in the US are FW 2.71 but this may be changing very soon. I have exchanged my PSP 4 or 5 different times. (NOT DUE TO BRICKING) and every PSP I have gotten thus far is 2.71 that's the stock FW PSPs are coming with.

If you Bought one in australia you can get a 2.60 easy, since the psp dont sell that much at this time, and alot of stores have heaps. you dropped it down the toilet? the only thing i ever dropped down there was my phone after flushing it. but the psp, must made a big splash, must have been messy.

I remmeber when they shiiped all new PSPs with a new firmware that wasnt homebrew compatible, it couldnt be 2.71 since 2.71 is more compatible than 2.xx up to 2.70!

So when i bricked my psp the first time, i was on 3.03oe, I took the psp apart, broke off the internal battery hopin to do a complete reboot, then soldered it back on. Nothing happened. 2 hours later i found the recovery menu!!

i got mine from the pwan shop with a case and 1 gig memstick for 120 and no taxes. it was firmware 2.6 with the ta082 motherboard. i think peole who pawn their stuff are on a lower fw that the shelves. now im on the 3.03oec and waitin for the 3.40oea for the bugs to be worked out b4 i upgeade. and yes despite popular belief, there are bugs some people, non noob, experience
