I had a problem with my psp today. It now no longer plays some of my games anymore, UMD or otherwise.

stat:

3.40 OE-A
Most settings disabled including No-UMD
Music and video plays fine
UMD videos work fine
Some UMD/ISO Games don't work.


When I launch my copy of Tekken it stays on a black screen for a while then comes up with "The game could not be started (80020148)"
Same thing with GTA: VCS

I tested out Ridge Racer and Loco Roco (all UMDs incase you're wondering) and they work fine. Just some games don't anymore and come up with that error message.

Also when I launch a backed up game on my memory stick it stays on a black screen....

UMD videos work fine, only games seem to be affected.

It was working fine before today, no problems with any of my UMDs or backed up games.

I did two things today that may have brought this on. I turned 'skip SCE logo' off in the config settings. I also acciently shut off USB while it was transfering a file. I formatted my memory stick both through the PSP and through windows (right click on the drive, then click the format button), but to no avail. Same problem.

I tried enabling skip SCE logo again, that didn't change anything. I also reinstalled 3.40 OE-A, that didn't fix anything either...

Does anyone have any ideas at all please? This is quite a big problem

*EDIT* Just tried a different memory stick, same problems.

*EDIT2* I tried installing 3.03 OE-C instead and returning the psp to default settings. I still have the same problem...

Is your psp a TA-mother board? Custom Fw 3.40oea does has certain problems, i insist you stick with 3.03oec or 3.10oea, since theyre very stable, but im not to sure about the games how they dont work when you went back im checking it out now.
its probably the settings have changed when u went up and back down.

I just managed to get my PSP to work again. I went off a tip someone on another forum gave me. I formatted my psp's flash1 using flash1 formatter and now my games work fine

I've very happy it's working again!

the 3.40oea has bugs. it may come back. mine did. it all stems from a file called config se in the flash 1. i dont know how many times i had up and downgraded on the 3.40oea fw but i dont like it. so now im on the 3.03oec. at least till they get a 3.40oe whatever when they get the bugs fixed. btw did you customized your xmb? thats when mine started
