Sony’s is claiming to have created the worlds lightest laptop with a 12.1inch screen. So how did it manage to shed the pounds? By getting rid of the hard drive, that’s how.

The G1 uses 32GB of solid state memory (SSM) instead of a standard hard drive. This means it tips the scales at just 1.89pounds, but using SSM has other benefits. The lack of moving parts means the laptop is more durable and has longer battery life. In fact the new SSM version offers 6.5hours of battery life compared with the 6 hours available from the standard model. And if you go for the optional long life battery pack it’ll run for a marathon 12.5 hours before needing to be topped up with juice.

And although the PC dimension are tiny at just 277 x 215 x 23.5-25.5mm it still manages to pack in twin USB ports, a multi-format memory card reader, modem and Gigabit Ethernet port.

That bc the pc has been out for much longer. They are working on making things smaller. The ps3 is new, so new tech = larger to begin with.
