I'm not rich and I have 4 4GB cards now and like 6-7 2GB's. I bought all my 4GB off ebay for $50 or less.

Yeah I suggest just sitting tight at the FW you have until a downgrader is made (meaning DO NOT UPDATE!!) Unless of course you've got t3h 2 year warranty then you could always get a new PSP. Wow I feel so lame am I the only one who didn't think of eBay and paid $129.00 for my 4gb mem stick?

If it's 1.00, then you need to upgrade to 1.50, then install custom firmware (such as 3.03 OE-C).
1.50 Update:

I find it funny that ashkonee01 says homebrew only runs on a custom firmware. when homebrew happens to run on 1.0, 1.5, 2.0-2.80(eloader or HEN) and 3.03 via HEN
