New GTAIV info!
After many months of rumours and speculation, and the recently released official trailer, we finally have new information about Grand Theft Auto 4.
First of all, the main character is an eastern European guy called Niko Bellic. Bellic came to Liberty City because his cousin Roman told him about the great American Dream.
Rockstar Games completely recreated Liberty City for GTAIV, so it won't be similar to the Liberty City seen in GTA3.
Rockstar recreated 4 of the 5 boroughs of New York, including a small part of New Jersey. The land mass is smaller than in San Andreas, and no place is being used for country side or desert.
The Statue of Liberty is called Statue of Happiness, Brooklynn is Broker, Manhattan is Algonquin, Queens is Jukes, and New Jersey has become Alderney. Rockstar wants to recreate a real city, but one in which you can still enjoy the game.
All the people on the streets of Liberty City will do something different; you might find someone hurrying for work, the other might be eating a burger on the streets.
The visuals are great, the lighting makes the game feel a lot better, and the textures are mind blowing.
A big part of the New York life is walking around, and meeting freaks. That's what Rockstar wants in their own Liberty City.
Dan Houser, GTAIV producer, thinks that they will bring new gameplay elements to Grand Theft Auto with GTAIV. The game will still follow a narrative path, but this time around you will have more freedom. You won't feel much like a slave this time around, because you will be able to call up some people, with a possibility to hang around with them.
If you do a mission with someone, and you do well, they might help you around in town. If not, they might stab you in the back.
Lastly, the game will have some kind of multiplayer. It won't be a massive online multiplayer though.
