Hi, Im wanting to buy a psp that will play ripped games and movies, probably getting it of ebay. So heres my questions:
1. lots of posts here are saying the best firmware was 1.5 which has been replaced by 3.03OE-C. an ebay description the seller says 3.10 OE-A2 is actually better than both. is this true? (heres the auction for referal: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-SONY-PSP-1-5-1-50-3...1QQcmdZViewItem )
2. some auctions have used psp's for like 120$ cheaper, but they dont mention the firmware version. is it possible to upgrade/downgrade to the latest and best version to play homebrew? ( heres the auction for referal: http://cgi.ebay.ca/SONY-PSP-1001-98507-GAM...1QQcmdZViewItem )
3. firmware from what ive gathered is software based, but mod chips are hardware based. if you can change the software side to play pirated stuff what would be the reason to get mod chip hardware?

4. memory cards, is it any type of flash card or does it have to be a specific kind?

1, 3.03 oe c is better as its more compatible with many psone games and is very customizable.
2,any fw 3.03 or less is downgraable but most require u to have an unpatched copy of gta lcs
3,modchips are used to change the fw and more but require u to buy the chip and maybe pay for installation , software based dg is much easier but still with a slight risk.
4, u can use ms of pro duo magigate support only , either sony or sandisk ( go with sandisk , much cheaper and faster)

3.10 OE-A2 is fine, it's the new version of 3.03 OE-C, and you can always switch back from it, so I'd get that PSP.

I beg to differ, for No.2 is actually only 3.03FW will need a Unpatched GTA LCS to downgrade. Any FW from 2.8 or less will just need a 1.5 downgrader and also determine whether the PSP is with a TA-082 board for differ installation procedures.
