Hello my fellow PSP users.

I got my PSP Entertainment pack (with 1 UMD game, 1 UMD movie and an 1GB memorystick) from North America just a few days back and I am totally new to this exciting domain of PSP.

I am really exited but very confused as I see so many different firmwires, homebrew apps, firmware downgraders, custom firmwares etc.

Now I have got Sony firmware 2.71 preloaded PSP and it seems to be a 'cursed' T-82 or T-86 motherboard sad.gif as I could see there is C1003 printed on the motherboard (which makes it any of those cursed motherboard according to this link .... )

Now I have many questions (some of which are going to appear very silly to most pro users but please try to understand I am just a novice in this appearanty complex world)

I want to play ISO and CSO games and want to watch full 480x272px movies. (I don't want to play emulated games of other consoles and homebrew or classic games at this moment.)

1. For doing this what all should I do?

2. Which is the safest possible solution (with lesser posbility of turning my PSP into a paper weight!) for doing the above?

3. If I install any of these custom firmwares (like the open editions maybe) is it possible
to upgrade or downgrade to any of the official Sony firmwares? or Sony prevents to do that?

4.There are so may custom firmwares and some time they seem to contain bugs as
I could see in many forums. so should I go for a tried and tested one or a comparatively new one?

5. My motherboard says C1003 , then which one is it? TA 82 or 86 or something else! how do I confirm?
is it risky to try changing the firmware without confirming?

Really Hoping to get some help from you guys smile.gif !

Thanks in advance!!

1. there are HEAPS of movies here for you to download....it wont harm you psp
2. The movies are safe
3. Dont even bother with sony firware....custom firmware is sooo much better
4. Get a tested one...if you new to this, just go for a simple on to start off
5. Its risky...look into a trusted site...
Ill get back to you with more info

Update: As expected… Here is the Easy TA-082 Downgrader from csfreakno1! Download below.

Are you sad and/or upset that you own a TA-082 PSP? Do you want to downgrade it and take advantage of all the glory 1.50 has to offer? Well guess what — you can!

Downgrade your TA-082 PSP running 2.71 with HEN-D; this made possible by none other than Dark_AleX, Mathieulh, and Harleyg!

This is an application to downgrade a ta-082 unit running 2.71 firmware and HEN-D to 1.50, although theoretically can downgrade to any version, but only 1.50 has been tested.

The application, at the moment of writing this readme was tested in 5 psp’s, with 5 success. As always, this kind of application have risks, this one in concrete write to idstorage area of nand.

READ CAREFULLY THE INSTRUCTIONS AND DON’T SKIP ANY STEP

Instructions

* Copy the UPDATE and idstoragechange folders into /PSP/GAME/
* Get the official sony 1.50 eboot and put it in the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder with the name of UPDATE.PBP
* Run HEN-D if you are not already running it.
* Execute the idstoragechange. It needs 75% battery. It will change some keys of your idstorage needed to downgrade the ta-082.
* The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the xmb as “Update X.YX” in the psp language.
* The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your psp to 1.50.
* At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the psp. Do it.
* If all went fine, you’ll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and reenter your settings. Welcome to 1.50.
* If things didn’t go that fine, you’ll have a non-functional psp, aka brick. You accepted that risk, remember.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

thanks a lot bombers_5393 for your reply! smile.gif

but i still have some confusion,
the new 3.XX open edition firmwares are developed long after the introduction of TA82 motherboard...right?

so is it possible to upgrade to any of those versions directly from 2.71 without downgrading back to 1.5?

by movies, i meant how could i play full resolution (480x272px) videos without UMD....
now only 320x240px videos are possible from memory-stick.....isn't it?

Youre going to have to downgrade to 1.50 first before going to the 3.XX firmwares. And youll be fine on youre mobo just make sure you use the ta compliant downgrader.

if your still scared about the downgrade part the downgraders that are ta-82+ will patch your MOBO. so it wont brick. but to do anything with homebrew ISO or anythign like that you must start at 1.50 once at 1.5 its highly sugessted to go to 3.03 OE-C, this CFW has the most customizabliy of the CFW.
