Using this guide at eBay
http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-Sony-Memory-S...000000001236041I have decided nothing. Going by the packaging I bought a fake. Going by the stick it is genuine. I studied, felt, scraped, cussed pulled my hair out and came with up with this: I would not stake my reputation on them being genuine, but I can't say their fake either, lot of help ain't I?
The packaging: has 3 dots down each side meaning fake, it has a holographic sticker which apparently means nothing. The colors say it is real, the fonts directions all info inside the cardboard look great.
The stick: Printing method seems to check out, smooth and clear. The size of the font is correct. All cosmetic views seem to check out. I did not pop it open to check the board, and i don't think i will. The card fits as it should.
All the points I mentioned are covered in the eBay guide.
It feels slow when doing transfers, but I was moving gig and a half files over USB. Took about 11 minutes to transfer. It loads fine in the PSP, no lag so far.
Additional thought. I compared the 1gig that came in the PSP bundle and it did not match the 4gig or the eBay report on genuine, little subtle differences. The capacity seems right on the money. It did not have an adapter in the packaging but the cardboard inside the packaging stated that it didn't have one. Pricemin did include an adapter though.
I assume it fake because of the packaging, but honestly have no complaints. If something comes up I will update you. Sorry I could not be more help, the counterfeits are perfect and the guide does not hold up under close scrutiny. Oh, and just to let you know the latest reports say at least 95% of all flash memory and 100% of all 4gig pro duos on eBay are fake.
p.s. The shipping was incredible, I odered late in the evening on the 9th and got it in the mail on the 12th, over the weekend even. Of course the seller is only about 5 hours away
