Ok this is my idea, I was looking around at the PSP and PS2 specs and they looked very similar, so my idea is, could the PSP play PS" games. With the release of the 8gb card the disc images could be stored. I kno it would be a massive project and also would take alot of time. But I think that it could be done. I don't see this happening, because to emulate the PS2, the PSP would need to have significantly higher specs to allow for the overhead in the emulation. There isn't even full speed N64 emulation yet, although StrmnNrmn is doing a fantastic job on that.

ya, the only reason we can play psx games on the psp is because sony made the psx emulator and included it in the firmware. otherwise i don't think we'd be playing even the psx games! i don't think we'll ever see ps2 emulation on a psp

i m pretty sure i read somewhere that the psp does have higher specs than the ps2 but they didnt max out the specs on the psp cause the battery life wouldn t be as long. maybe eventually we will be able to play the ps2 games

Well I know on my 3.10 oe-a you can adjust cpu speed....is that overclocking closer to maxing out specs? 333mhz? Is it possible to upgrade ram somehow?

Not that I know off, but seriously why would you want PS2 games on your psp , just get a ps2 and play it at home. It's tiring to hold that little bugger for more than 1 hour.. carpel tunnel I'm telling you

And Psychosanity, we were playing PSX games on our modded PSP's long before sony came out with there official PSX emulator. So YES, even with out Sony's emulator we would be playing PSX's games.

yup the psx emulator was out a while before the release from sony. but i wouldnt see the point of having a ps2 emu, and if there was i bet it would be a resource hog and eat your battery alive.

There is a homebrew out there that let's u use the PSP as a PS2 controller through IR, it will feel like your playing PS2 on the PSP

Its possible to have ps2 games on the Psp, the only problem is that the battery life would be pointless, games would last about perhaps 1hour or so, and the games will have technical problems due to the harware, the psp cpu may be a bit higher than the ps2, and certain other specs, but still wouldnt runs as nice as the ps1 emu.

Not happening, ever. The ps2 graphics are better than the psp's, plain and simple. The handheld just cant handle it.

The PSP doesn't have the emotion engine, which would mean a terribly complicated emulation software would have to be created. It just can't be done.

If you could play it, it would be incredibly slow. There are hardware, and software restriction. If only SONY would release the tools to make the games, we could work with that. But that's not the way of the world.

Don't expect it to happen with the current evolution of the PSP. Maybe a future model will have the capability.

I'd love for this to happen, i would really love to play my ps2 games on my PSP, then i really could get rid of my ps2 saying as it is nearlly dead, and becasue i live in the uk i my ps3 won't play all my ps2 games especially my favorite ones, like ratchet and clank series , well actually they do play on the ps3 apart from the first one, but the screen is really jumpy, and i cannot play a game on a great console with the jumping around all the time.
