A new piece of research indicates that the Nintendo Wii is far far FAR less power hungry than either the Xbox 360 or PC. During gameplay, the Wii averaged at 16.8 watts, the Xbox 360 and PS3 measured 176.54W and 185.9W respectively.
Quite a few numbers stand out from these results. First of all, look at Wii! 18 Watts average when playing what is considered the console's prettiest game! Compare that to the PC, which hovers around 198 Watts steady, peaking around 209 Watts.
While the PS3 had a lower minimum (probably due to the loading screen in between quarters in the basketball game), its average was about 13W higher than the XBOX 360 playing its most advanced game, Gears of War. GoW truly squeezes every little bit that the 360 has to give, and this is probably as much power any game today will require from it.

Well thats what you get for much better graphics i suppose. Still the ps3 and 360 are worth the extra amount on your electricity bill

Wow, that is really a big difference! I suppose the faster the processor and the more detailed the graphics, the more power will be consumed.

Are you serious. Do you honestly know how much more itll be a year even with the difference in wattage. Probably like 50 bucks at the most. And probably not even that.

For the small electrical bill difference over a year I doubt it would influence my opinion at all.

yeah i mean who cares i bet your pc takes alot of energy as well so i think that that just to save the little of electricity its not really a major deciding factor

Its not a TON off of your electrical bill, but if you were to play, say 5+ hours a day, you could (this is all speculation here) save ~50 bucks off of your electrical bill. that IS a lot to some people (*cough* college kids). It might not be enough to really make someone choose the Wii over a ps3. Instead, they should be choosing the wii over the ps3 because of how revolutionary it is.

How revolutionary? Meh, not revolutionary enough for me to want to switch to playing it instead of a ps3.
