As you will all be aware of now, Sony very recently released PSP firmware revision v3.11. In terms of 'security' nothing has particularly been beefed up, but Dark_Alex is holding off on releasing an v3.11 compatible OE firmware until he finds something useful to add or perhaps when a better firmware is released.

hes got a point, if s0ny decide to release a fw every week, dark_alex wont want to be modding each one, it'll be too much work...
mod the best, stuff the rest lol
dark_alex is a ledgend

He's right, he should stop for a while, he has been working too much, each new update he makes a custom firmware... it's not bad or anything but it must be tirering to keep on working on new custom firmwares like that
his work is awesome though

Hey Dark_Alex,
we owe a hell of a lot to you, man, so you should take a break until you find a firmware worth hacking.
You are like Prometheus in Greek mythology- you brought us fire on the psp! Thanks.

Like i said yesterday!

Why should he even bother making a new OE release...
To show sony that he can take all they throw at him.. :S
That would be stupid!
This is what i said yesterday
"The only reason Dark-Alex should make a 3.11 OE i can think of
is that it would show sony how hardcore he is...
That hes able to hack all the firmware releases... smile.gif
I think he should wait until 3.20 or some other big update hits the floor smile.gif
And then work on improvements in the current OE version... smile.gif
Thats my opinion... smile.gif"

Good idea. Everyone who makes homebrew possible really are amazing. I really feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of the handheld and that I would want a new updated one someday.

I agree, although DA is PSP god, there is no point burning himself out, unless Sony make some big changes that would be worth upgrading for, i.e PS2 emulator, he might as well wait.

That makes a lot of sense, because 3.11 isn't a major update
and theres not much of a reason to update
except if you play that one game that was fixed
but hopefully there's a major update coming soon
that adds another feature
(maybe a pdf reader, text editor, newer flash player,Voice Over IP support,
more ram [for internet browser], or some support for more audio/video formats)
then i'd be waiting for the next special firmware

I'm still on 3.03 oe-b, because although the later ones are nice, they don't really do anything for me, and I like my custom xmb icons + wave + backgrounds. Plus, I hate flashing unnecessarily.
but DA is still pretty awesome.

There are only going to a set number of ways around the security and showing your hand too soon would only prove a bad thing in the long run. I would expect dark_alex has other secuirty stuff up his sleeve and really he should keep them there.
In theory as each one is identified then it should be closed down in the next patch (I know that this didnt happen fully with GTA:LCS but in that we have to bow down to Sony's superior stupidity)

Good that he takes a break. It also gives some of the other developers some time to adjust and evolve their plugins. We all want that XML icon changer to work in 3.10 don't we?
