After searching high and low on the net I've come across this site
http://www.pspunbrick.co.uk/ I haven't used him myself yet but I have seen a few posts on maxconsole and he seems to get good replies and I think I might use him myself.
I aint co-signing him yet but if there's any desperate folks out there who may be interested
Peace

This seems like a viable option for those people inside uk with a psp bricked, we still need to know if he really fixes them or its trusty.

Stores that claim to fix it, usually overcharge you in greedy manner and have no customer-friendly attitude.
They probably have a device that can read and edit the motherboard BIOS content directly, thus by reformating the flash and reinstall fw1.5 files on flash0, it restores the system. Nothing more than clicking a few button and charge you mad dollars. But it's worth trying if you deem the price to be reasonable.
