Seminole, Florida - When we first introduced you to Casey Winners last month, he was telling us about how another boy stole his new Playstation Portable or PSP outside the Largo Mall. [Original Story]
Casey was shopping with his little brother and grandmother when a boy ran up from behind, shoved his grandma to the ground and took off with his PSP. Casey had just purchased the video game system with some money he got for getting straight A's in school.
A few days after our story aired, a stranger in Kansas City saw our story online at tampabays10.com and offered to help out.
This week, the person — who asked not to be identified — did just that. He sent Casey a new PSP, a new game and game jacket, a value of over $250.
Casey Winners, PSP Replaced by Stranger: "I was so impressed that someone would actually do that."
Casey's mom says somehow the words "Thank you" don't seem enough. She adds the stranger's generosity has turned a negative into a positive.
Cindy Winners, Casey's Mom:
"Casey will remember this for the rest of his life. So now when he thinks of the bad thing that happened, at least in his memory he'll think about the good person that came back."
Casey Winners, PSP Replaced by Stranger:
"I would want to say thank you very much and it's good that there's a good person out there in this world."
The man who sent Casey the new PSP said he wanted to reward the 13-year-old for getting straight A's in school. Plus, he said he was impressed that Casey seemed more concerned about his grandma and not losing his PSP after the robbery.
Officials are still investigating the case, but so far no arrests have been made.
