I have a question...I was also having problem starting this game under 2.71 emulation, through loading the ISO through the USB connection....then I read somewhere in this thread that i need 2.71/2.8x hybrid firmware, so I downloaded that and plugged it into the PSP......Because I load games through the USB connection, I changed the 2 following options in devhook:
USB Mod: Disable --> Enable
UMD Mount: UMD Disc --> ISO any UMD
But when I load *any* game through the USB Connection, it doesnt load: I just get a black screen.......That means, MGS:PO was already not loading in my 2.71 before, but other games were loading.....Now, nothing is loading in the hybrid 2.71/2.8x ...........
What do I do ??

ok well, just to confirm this, i just tried to run MGS:PO again....i formatted the memory stick, copied over a fresh 2.71/2.8x hybrid...and tried running the ISO...still not loading......But now I do have a few clues that might help out...
1) when you load an ISO through the USB connection, when the gameboot is showing in the emulated firmware (e.g. 2.71/2.8x hybrid), you hear two sounds from your PC...the first one is the USB disconnect sound, and then after like 2 seconds, you hear a second sound, which is the USB connection sound.....at least this is the case with me.....the unusual thing is, when I try to load an ISO through the USB connection, I hear the first sound (the USB disconnecting), but I dont hear the second sound (the USB connecting sound)....so I am assuming that ISO never loads in the first place !! Which is probably why I am getting a black screen....
Please help me out guys, I really wanna play this game...
