I am not really new to the modding scene i have modded ps2/xbox/gc

but i am about to get a psp, if i buy one at like walmart or target what FW would it be?

i was maybe thinking of going to like a K-mart or a major department store who doesnt get as *much* business as the others.

i got 2 4 GB sticks pro duo's, had them for a while might as well put them to use and back a few games up on them or something, so yea.

also i wanted ot buy a new one but i am sure i could find a used one with an older FW, but hopefully a retail chain that doesnt get as much bizz still has some of the older psp's

also

devhook......i was reading you can set your processor speed etc etc and it emulated different Fw's

does this thing slow your games down / anything like that, also is it bad ot hvae you psp run at 333 mhz what does the psp run at normally ?

and finnaly iso's ....are iso loaders any good taking the need for devhook away, is there anyway to patch iso's to make them require an earlier version ? or is that just to easy biggrin.gif

p.s. i realllly want to try those new cps1/cps2 arcade emulators biggrin.gif MvC running 60 fps full speed with sound biggrin.gif

and will sony just let it be and atleast make the damn updates farther apart.

when will games require 3.02? and what are most of the new released games right now 2.8 ?

just some tidbits for not a n00b but a new member to the psp modding scene , thanks for any info

It's hard to know, when you do buy one the motherboard version is also important:

An ideal PSP:
- does NOT have a TA-082 motherboard
- has 2.71 firmware or below

Good idea, or find a place which lets you try the PSP first to find out its motherboard and firmware version.

I think the PSP runs at 222MHz normally, but I'm not sure.
DevHook doesn't run compressed games as fast as UMD in some cases, but running at 333 MHz usually fixes this.

DevHook is an ISO loader (as well as a firmware emulator).
You don't need to patch ISOs as the newest version of DevHook can emulate up to 3.02 firmware.

Games will probably require 3.02 in the new year, and I think most new games are 2.8x now.

ahh thanks very informative post, yea i will check out a few retail outlets that dont get as much bizz, k mart has had like the same 10 psp's for the last year so yea, but what do you mean iso loadsers dont run as fast as umd's ? i have heard reading from the mem stick is way faster then reading from the UMD drive? .........also that little pic you posted, i cant see it they block it sad.gif

so all games run at 233 mhz? i was hearing with version 3.02 games now will run faster, like they bumped it up a little or something

but yea thanks for the post, and i will go get my psp later......

im craving for that cps1 and cps2 emulator ........full speed with sound biggrin.gif

but does emulating the firmware at all slow the games down ?

i knwo theres a few different iso loaders ..........isnt there some you can run without emulating the firmware?

and is it possible to patch iso's so per say if its for 2.8 to patch it to run on 2.6 ?

thanks again

In My Expiriance not during game play but during loading a map or the game itself it can take a few seconds longer
