Genre: Retro Compilation

A whole bunch of Sega classics are collected on this one UMD compilation. Gamers may remember that in the Genesis days, Sega made extraordinary games, which are still great fun to play today.

This collection boasts almost 30 games with a whole heap of classics and strange omissions. For example, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 2 are included but the other two sequels are missing. However, nearly all the games on the collection are fun in their own way and only a couple won’t get much attention. For the RPG fans, there’s all three Phantasy Star games and Sword of Vermillion. Platforming and action games are plenty with the little known Ristar, Comix Zone, Vector Man 1 and 2, Golden Axe 1-3, Kid Chameleon, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and more.

Of course some games aren’t as good as others, but there’s plenty to like here. All games boast excellent emulation and three options for changing screen mode. Surprisingly, all the games look just fine stretched for the PSP’s wide screen. Apart from that, the collection boasts a whole heap of extras in the form of video interviews, extra arcade games and trailers, which are earned by playing through the games and completing tasks.

It really is the best retro compilation to date and the only fault is that there are some games missing. The Streets of Rage series, Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, E-SWAT, Afterburner and other classics are missing in action.
