hi guy's ive been given my friend's son's psp to have a look at because it won't switch on ive plugged the power in to give it a bit charge the orange light is on and every now and again it goes off then comes back on! any idea's as to what's wrong?
jdm_ist
Does the light blink for a few seconds, then turn off? If so, he's got a brick.

no the orange light is on now it will stay on for say 30 second's go off the come straight back on

i would probably think its not a brick but a manafacture issue (tech difficulties) i would consult on talkin to sony if you want a PSP

try makin a video for us so we could understand a bit more of what you are talkin about
jdm_ist
Or at least more details. Firmware version, what he was doing with his PSP before it messed up, etc.

Contact the seller. The chances are the PSP has been bricked. Its fair to say... 'why ebay'? Well, i regret to inform you it may be bricked. Try to remove the battery, for about 2mins and replace it, then attempt to switch it back on.

tried taking the battery out for 2mins (as well as removing the UMD and memory card) but it still wont switch on. Wen its "bricked", does it attempt to boot up but fails or is it litterally dead????

I depends. I think your best advise would be to contact the seller. However, keep checking this topic, we have alot of activity here smile.gif Someone else might be able to help further!
swirl80
cheers, i've sent an email off to them and gonna have to wait n see wot they say!

will keep checking this thread tho........

mate, i think you've been unlucky and have been "had" so to speak. although ebay is so cheap, i rarely get things like that on it. email the ebay seller and if no response, report him to ebay. they will sort him out, or he will sort your psp out.
swirl80
hummm, i've still not heard owt so far like! I'm a fair man so gonna wait til tomor morning and if no response by then then i'll take it up with ebay.

ntman
i hear wot ya sayin, heard many a story about ebay but i've bought and sold almost 200 items on ebay so far and this is the 1st problem i've had blink.gif Just happens to be a potentially expensive problem mad.gif
patotheduck
depend how long its been used-in manual they warn the betteries eventually just die out

but if the battery was at fault wud there not be an issue wen charging? Or, if wen trying to switch it on, it'd at least try but fail? Or am i being a bit presumtuous????

This happened to me before, my battery had worn itself out so i bought a new one and it worked.
Try replacing the battery.
swirl80
u reckon thats defo the issue? Don't wanna go out n buy a battery if gonna be sending the PSP back to the seller!

can u explain exactly wot happened with urs? Is it exactly the same symptons as mine?

You can test to see if the battery is broken by plugging it into the wall, and turning it on without the batty inside. If the PSP boots its the battery!

wow i'll buy a battery for my new psp just in case my wears out better safe than sorry ya know

a psp cant boot up with no battery the battery closes the circuit

electricity doesnt flow without something to close it

nevermind my last comment i just try it it can b done

i was surprise though

i swear i tried that before and it dint work
jjpspjj
sorry but you got a brick, why don't you sell it on ebay and make a profit lol jk.
t18ams
foil the connections then plug it in to the mains
Moulde
Weird :S

But then he'l need to find someone else who owns a psp...
and then try out the battery...
swirl80
well, rang playstation technical helpline, they reckon it was a fault with the unit itself.................

so, they couriered a brand new 1 to me a couple of days lata under warranty - sorted smile.gif
