Tech site DigiTimes cited Sony Computer Entertainment Asia managing director Tetsuhiko Yasuda, who said that the Taiwanese 60GB hard drive-equipped PS3 would launch first, costing the equivalent of $545. The $455 20GB model is set to launch in the region in December.
Yasuda reportedly said that the 60GB model is targeted towards the mainstream audience despite its higher price.
Sony didn't comment on Hong Kong and Taiwanese launch figures, but the report stated that SCE is aiming to attract one million buyers for the region.
Sony's PS3 launch numbers for the November 17 North American release stand at 400,000 units. Japan was set to receive 100,000 on launch day, but recently Sony cut that figure to 80,000.
