Why didnt sony make all PSP's TA-082 or something of the like that wont play homebrew?
(i like homebrew and have a 1.50) just wondering why sony made it so hard on themselves by releasing TA-079 TA-080 and TA-081

because they probably thought the new firmware updates would stop homebrew before they came out with the TA-082

How can you tell the difference between TA-079, TA-080 and TA-081?
And what are actual differences between them?
I only knew about TA-082 and non-TA-082.

The only way you can tell the difference is to open it up and it says it somewhere on the motherboard.

actually they didn't really know about the undowngradable ta-082 (im asuming) it just happened tongue.gif because they had motherboards but they didn't really have any new things in them just functioned sorta different, but then the ta-082 came and they thought "hey lets make the new motherboard have less voltage" (and i think something else, not sure) this was around 2.5 firmware so yea, then they were like hold on the 1.5-2.01 bootstrap can't load this new motherboard functions so lets make a new one in 2.5+ so then 2.5+ was and still is able to load new and old motherboards laugh.gif so thats what i thnk about the motherboards not really sure if it was planned out or not by sony but thats what happened

Sony could have made updates manditory right?
like when you turn on your PSP it checks if it is updated or not?

in theory yes. But imagine if they sent out an update that had errors on, think off all the PSP's that would be screwed up. Think of all the law suits if such a thing happened.
Sony in away benefits from homebrew and dare i say piracy. Of course they do! I mean think off the thousands of people who purchased a psp due to the firmware number, or just to use homebrew and think, off all the advertising the Sony psp's get from all the homebrew news.
The only real reason Sony release updates are to show game developers and publishers that things are being to to ''try'' to prevent homebrew. Needless to say that the new feature es in firmware updates do help to shift a few units!
And remember ''freedom of choice''.

since TA-082's have less voltage does that mean that they have a longer battery life?
Since 1.50, 2.00, 2.01 cant load TA-082's how did o0km's softdowngrader work?

EDIT i found out the he made a custom image of 2.50 and personally mixed it with a 1.50 firmware so it could boot the TA-082 mobo

I must say: "Good Question".

No other Comments.

Jokin.. Uhmm.. If it does mean that it'll have longer battery life. Then, I guess that that PSP will also be more expansive. So my theory is: if the indeed have longer battery life, then it must be more epansive. Probably a couple of dollars.

I also have an other idea: I dunno this already in other topics, but. I think all that TA stuff, is a test of SONY, or SCES. To see, if they would made PSP's with that code, that would block Homebrews. Would it be succesfull? or will it be hacked, like before? So TA is according to me just a testphase. They released a couple of them, to see how the public people would react, and see if it is hack-able.
