Will the Psp play avi files or is there something that needs to be done in order to be able to view them?

yeah you can use PSPlayerMT heres a link PSPlayerMT

Or you can use most converters, like sony PSP's media manager. Or code junkies psp action replay program or even (not sure) psp video 9.

Thanks for that stvnkch, if the readme is accurate then this really is great.
I don't know how I missed this release, I've been converting my AVIs to PMPs to play with PMP Mod.

no problem adw888 it works great and the video playback is real smooth
