2.71 Special Edition (SE) Custom Firmware Revision A

Version: --
Category: NON-VIP-PSP EXPLOITS & LOADERS

Description:
Dark_Alex's Custom 2.71 Firmware enables you to play 1.5 homebrew on your 2.71PSP
This is a custom firmware that lets to have in a single flash the advantages of firmware 1.50 and
2.71 at the same time.

Homebrew can be run on both kernels, the 1.50 one and the 2.71 one, letting almost all current homebrew
to work on the 1.50 kernel, and 2.71 homebrew compatible with HEN C in the 2.71 kernel.

Note: the installer writes to FLASH0. I'm not responsable of any damage of what happens,
since this software is provided free and without warranty.
TA-082 users cannot use this because a 1.50 bootstrap is needed to boot the system patched.

At the moment, there is only installer for 1.50, although it could be easily ported to whatever
firmware with kernel access such as 2.60 and 2.71, but at the moment i prefer not to doing it to avoid
TA-082 using it and bricking their psp's.

Note that this package DOES NOT contain any illegal material. The user has to provide the 1.50 and
2.71 updaters pbp's to legally generate the DXAR file used for the flashing.

Although this custom firmware is VERY impressive, it doesn't actually offer that much over 1.50 with harleyg's custom firmware. Maybe in the future it might, but I'm sticking on 1.50 for now.
quikadanquik
i had 1.5 but i upgraded to this and found out that this is basically 1.5 with harleyg's
i hate that xflash wont work with it
snipersnake

i long for devhook emualtion on 2.81 more than this
jdm_ist
Damn, this doesn't work with the DevHook mod ver.1.60. It just freezes up.
Darkatomz

The Gamer
Excellent work Dark_AleX! smile.gif
POTP
upgraded and i love it.

ISO loading with dehook works
irshell works
chance of bricking are less
recovery system is top notch

unless you like extreme theme customisation of your psp then i would recommend this firm

all the people who crib right now about this firm have to realise that hombre was made for 1.5 and now homebrew designed for 2.71se will also become standard. so this firm is the new golden.

YO Im kinda new at this but I found out that anyone with 2.71 SE firmware can customize the font, Gameboot, and background of the psp........ just go to this link and follow this exact procedures...

<a href="http://dl.WE TRY TO STEAL PSP-SPOT STAFF/2.71-SE-A-Customizer-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/10697/catid/151" target="_blank">http://dl.WE TRY TO STEAL PSP-SPOT STAFF/2.71-SE-A-Customizer-PSP-...10697/catid/151</a>

The application we have here today might now win any beauty contests. Yellow text on a blue background? But once you consider its features, I'm sure it's one of those uber-cool applications for your newly installed Dark_AleX's 2.71 SE-A firmware. Made by eiffel56 over at the Portable-News.de forums, this application allows you to customise your 2.71 SE-A firmware.

Although it's not some big breakthrough, seeing how writing to the flash has been possible for some time now, this app gets kudos for doing something I'm sure everyone wanted. Here's how it works:

* Copy the 271c folder from the archive to your PSP's PSPGAME150 folder.
* Now depending on what you want to do, simply copy the relevant files to your memory stick. For example, if you want to change your font, just move the ltn0.pgf to your memory stick.
* Now once you run the application, you will be given the choice of flashing different items. In our case, since we wanted to change the font, we would've simply pressed the X button.
* Once the app does its job, simply reboot your PSP.

If everything went fine, you'll be looking at your custom-custom 2.71 firmware. In case something went wrong, you can simply use the recovery menu offered with the 2.71 SE-A firmware and go back to 1.5 from where you can again upgrade to 2.71 SE-A. This probably means that even though it modifies your PSP's flash, it's pretty safe since you can always salvage your PSP fully. Anyways, enough of talk... Have fun modifying your PSP!

I'll be around for the latest news in psp hacking.
