Update Flasher for PSP 2.71 Firmware!

Version: --
Category: NON-VIP-PSP EXPLOITS & LOADERS

Description:
Dark_AleX just released this utility today! From the ReadMe file:
Quote:

WARNING: this program writes to the flash. The author is not responsable of any damage that happens to your PSP, since this software is free and unlicensed.

This tool enables a 2.71 running HEN C to downgrade to any version from 1.50-2.70 or to reflash the own 2.71.

Theoretically, TA-082 users could downgrade to 2.70/2.60/2.50.
Ta-082 users: DO NOT TEST anything/downgrade below 2.50.

A firmware dump is not needed, only the eboot.pbp of an update. This downgrader is safer, faster, and a lot easier to use than the previous downgraders. It also makes a clean firmware install, since this time there is a format of flash0 (just like sce updaters do).

Instructions:
------------

- Copy the contents inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memstick.

- Get the EBOOT.PBP of the update you want to install, and copy it with the name of "UPDATE.PBP" to
/PSP/GAME/UPDATE

- Run the program.

And done.

I updated to 2.7 and back to 1.5 to see how it works and it works like a charm

So, by the sound of it, it's just like the MPH downgrader?
S┼◄ÑKCH
yeah you can go from 2.71 to any other firmware below it just using the pbp not the dump
shdwghst457
this doesnt affect me since i don't have a ta-082, but why cant you go below 2.5 with one?
S┼◄ÑKCH
because of hardware restrictions the TA-082 doesn't recognize anything below 2.5
Darkatomz
hm.... if it works, then that's great. but the writing to the flash thing is kinda unsafe imo.

You're right, it sounds exactly like the MPH downgrader, except Dark_AleX's is for 2.71 to 1.50/1.51/1.52/2.00/2.01/2.50/2.60, while the MPH's is for 2.00 to 1.50 only.

That means that it's a clean downgrade from 2.71 to 1.50, no more 2.71 - 1.50 - 2.00 - 1.50 firmware routes.

It's great news and I'll be using this for downgrading my friends' PSPs now instead of all the others.

Thanks to Dark_AleX for yet another fantastic contribution to the PSP homebrew scene.

no it has to be a 2.71 but dont try to go below a 2.5 if you have a TA-082 cause it will 100% brick but if its not you can go to any other firmware below 2.71

No I do not have a TA-082. I just have a PSP with 2.60 firmware. I am wondering if this new tool will make my PSP go from a 2.60 to a 1.50. Thanks

A small step by step guide with a little more detail then the readme would be great. The readme doesn't specify whether to put the SRC folder onto the memstick.I don't wanna mess up my mate's unit.

Bar the 1.5 update, is everything included in that attachment?

How should my folders look? I have an MP root but no MS root.

Where does the SRC folder go? sad.gif
