OK, well, I finally got a PSP (finally !!).....I have had it downgraded to 1.50 successfully, and am looking into the rapidly developing PSP homebrew scene....

But i have this problem...when I connect my PSP to my HP laptop, and turn on USB mode on the PSP, Windows XP just gives a 'Device Not Recognised' error....I have 3 USB ports, and I get the same error in all of them...also, I tried this on Windows Vista Pre-RC1 (build 5536), also installed on this same laptop...it gives the same error as well.........strangely, I dont get this error, when I connect my normal flash drive, or the iPod (in USB mode).....only the PSP.....

Strangely enough, the PSP *is* detected on my nearly 7 year old Pentium 3 machine...!!

So do I need some special drivers for the laptop ??

By the way, the laptop is HP Pavilion dv1446EA, in case anyone's wondering...

For some reason, I get the "device not recognised" sometimes too, but it still opens it up. I don't know what's up with yours, maybe you need to manually install the driver.

i dont know whats the driver? can you provide a link for the drivers ?
jdm_ist
They're in your computer already. I just don't know exactly where they are.

i have tried searching the computer for drivers....but there were no matches.....i even tried forcing windows to install the Mass storage device drivers for the PSP, but even then, the PSP was not detected...

1) Its a long shot;- try reinstalling laptop drivers (usually found on your mufactures website,or on software CD-R's obtained from the initial purchase-of the laptop), Find the USB hub drivers or USB drivers on the disk ad run the wizard
2) There could be an error with your PSP's hardware, i owned a Packard bell MP3 player and noticed that my Laptop (Sony Vaio) ad PC would not detect my MP3 player connected to any ports.
-If you PM me with all the details i might be able to help-as I'm a senor executive at an ''unnamable'' computer shop/repairs centre(S) throughout the UK.- No seriously i am-
