does anybody know how a 2.8 downgrader is coming along?
allsorts111
Many people know the same as you do! Its hard to say, if i was you be patient- but i know its hard as it seemed an eternity until the 2.71 downgrader was released.
Just keep you fingers crossed. I estimate not long- about 2-3 weeks.
SlipknotMaggot
hmm, but how do u expect them to unlock kernel mode?
johny 5
lol they are going to have to find an exploit in the tiff exploit lol not the old one because they patched it in 2.8 you shouldn't of updated

Its all too hard to 'say you should not have updated'. I can empathize with you,- i updated from 2.5 to 2.6 and then 27.1 but luckily stopped due to the fact everytime i updated a down grader was released. But hey ive got 1.5 now so its cool.
SlipknotMaggot

Yea, but no matter how many people downgrade, there's always going to be hundreds of people either unaware, or who don't under stand. Sony will always make a profit. I still buy games and support Sony and game developers. People should still buy a few games a year!

Yea, there are a lot of cheap bastards out there. There's people who download hundreds of dollars worth of games, but are too cheap to buy ONE $20-$50 game. That's just sad.
SlipknotMaggot
im one of those cheap bastards haha

screw sony

Your comment don't quite add up. 'Screw Sony', so if you believe that why spend around/over £200 on a console when Sony is still making profits from your purchase even if you don buy games,(making money from PSP's in general and other subsidiaries of SCE and Sony) i bet you own a ps2 and maybe plan on purchasing a ps3. I could be correct if you have ever watched a Sony film or own/listened to a Sony BMG record. Many laptop batteries are made by Sony. So as you can see... your supporting Sony all the time!
Oh, and if your intention is to screw Sony... why don't you buy games, not all are made by Sony!

I dont understand how you can say that If it werent for them.... well this forum wouldnt be here. Even if i COULD get to 1.5 right now i would still buy umds.... although I still disagree with sony tryin to "make more profit" by negating any chance of homebrew. . . . . IM ON 2.81 AND I WANT SNES GODDAMNIT

Any company or organization- thats not charitable. Will always want to make more profit. The main reason)s) sony does not allow homebrew is simple. It leads to people being able to rip ISO's and or sell them, distribute them online and download and play them to their 1.5 PSP. If everyone could do this the PSP would be worthless game developers and publishers would steer clear altogether. Meanung sony does not make much profit- or as much as they would want.

allsorts111 is right. Watch. If everyone downgrades. and play ISOs, the PSP WILL end up exactly like the dreamcast.
jdm_ist
It's already headed that way. They're down in sales by 90 something% from last year. So yeah, we need to support Sony in some way or else there will be no more games to download for you cheap bastards.

How nice of you. lol smile.gif
Anyways,- i dont think the PSP will ever cease to exist and support will only be dropped when every last penny is sucked up by sony. Sony can always make money- through deals, through people who dont have the knowledge or the means of downgrading and then obtaining game backups like cso's or iso's. Sony will most likely continue until the developers and game publishers see fit to reduce the amount of games they produce for the market. Indeed, i think somehow Sony will find away of preventing piracy on the PSP. Maybe not yet but soon. Once they can get to an unhackable version, they should then install that on all PSP's (factory made PSP's). Then i would install something so that when people try to rip UMD's it executes an update. However, they make all games require 3.0 or whatever and there is a disclaimer on the game saying requires **** firmware. That could work. (yea i know i sorta lost it up there- its total bull)
If i was sony i would look at Nintendo- cartirges. Have they ever found away to play 'copied' or illegitimate games on the gameboy or DS. Even if you can play them on other formats like the PC ( Emulators), the gameboy(S) are pretty limited when it comes to piracy.

I'm not sure about the DS, but I definitely remember seeing blank cartridges for the GBA. I think you could upload ROMs to them via USB, so the GBA had some piracy at least.

I think the problem with the PSP is that games are too expensive; new games cost £34.99 in the UK, which is the same as PS2 or PC games.
Why would you choose to buy the PSP version over the PS2 or PC version if they are the same price?
Which leads into another problem, there aren't enough games unique to the PSP system, almost all of them are available on the PS2 or PC.

The main reason games are not unique to the PSP are simple. The DS (dual screen) has a touch screen function that developers can use to enhance games and change them from the PC or 360 or PS2 versions. One reason most games are not as you say 'unqique' is that the proportion of the market owned by different consoles vary. If you want to make profit you develop a game that is on many of the major formats and you can get up to lets say 5x the profit.
Games here in the UK are expensive i agree, PC games on the other hand are different- 1) many PC chart games sell for around £20 and then prices can change from around £5-£30 (such as command and conquer games serperately they can cost from £5, for Red alert 2. And for generals around £10-£15. The collection only costs around £30 and consists of over 6 games. These reason PC games are cheap is also to do with piracy. There are so many pc games available over the net its unbelievable!

it seems like they could create a fake demo thats a downgrader, and downgrade it, how come you can't?

Kernel access.

But psp owners playing GBA games ups PSP sales and downs Nintendo's games and console sales, it is good for them!

I have a Supercard and can play NDS, GBA, GBC, and NES games...

Good point, that's very annoying.
