Just the way Quicktime handles audio with MP4 files.
Never experienced sound delay in mp4 conversion and since you have used every converter around i suppose you tried SUPER converter.
There is probably software to adjust the sound to fit perfectly with the picture.
I use MPEG Video Wizard DVD since i have these problems only when i encode MPEG2 and its quite easy but they probably have software that covers more formats.

is there a link for the converter?

it should be the convertor, I mean if you have a good computer with good specs everything should go smooth.
But the best converter I have seen is Cucusoft, try it.

XD I have converted a lot videos, and pretty much tried EVERY MP4 conversion tool out there. I would have to say 90% of the time it's not really the converter's fault that the sound get out of sync. Believe it or not its usually the video that is causing the sound to not sync! What I mean is that most of the videos that get converted with the sound out of sync was because the creator of that video used some cheap as method to connect two video clips together, thus the MP4 converter gets all confused... The only way I have found to really get around this is to convert my videos manually, meaning getting the sound first then the video, then putting them together. It's not as painful as it sounds. I figure how to do it after reading a tutorial over at maxconsole forum.

Whenever I download a movie, the sound is all fizzy. I can hardly hear the voice over the fizzy sound. Anyone share this problem?

Does every movie you download have this fizzy problem?? If so, I think the problem is your video player. Or are you saying every time you convert a video to MP4 format the sound gets all fizzy? What converter are you using, and tell me the profile you are using. Or are you saying every video you download from this site gets all fizzy? If so, is it fizzy only when you play it on your PC with Quicktime, or is it fizzy only when you play it on your PSP or both?

The converter i use is called PSP Video Express. It does almost does every format to mp4. it even does rm Real Media format. You can also adjust the audio and video quality. Don't get mixed up, there is PSP Video Express and PSP Movie creator. PSP Video Express is freeware (No restrictions except for screen format) and PSP Movie creator which is Sharware( Lots of restrictions including only 5 mins encoding of any video)which is CRAP!!!

I know this thread is a little old, but none of these are the solution. The problem is that the audio bitrate is too slow for the video bitrate depending on the length of the movie. A short movie between 1-15 minutes should be fine with the default 64BPS rate, but anything above should be doubled to 128BPS. I used to have the same problem.
You can fix it by using the, 'Movie 0 - 2hs' feature in psp video 9, or setting the rate manually in the xilisoft video converter.

since everyone seems to be stuck on this except for 3-4 people who posted, can we make an exception and have a link or two posted? i tried a couple things yesterday to attempt to fix the 4 second sound delay on my movies but none of them worked....terribly frustrating

I too have never experienced that problem. I've used psp video 9, psp video express, and i'm currently hooked into aimersoft video converter (which i love). i use dvd43 , and dvdshrink to rip my dvd's (it's easy to get rid of the stuff you don't need like menus and such), imgburn to make isos, or isobuster to make .vob files right off the disc. try majorgeeks or snapfiles or google.
