Full Version: Swap buttons on flashed firmware?

Aye, my name is Eldritch.
I have a Japanese PSP, and am much too used to the "inverted" confirm and cancel buttons, to really adapt to the EU/USA set up.
I use latest dev hook 0.46, and fw 2.71 on that. I know you can swap the buttons on 1.5, so it should also be possible on the flashed one. Question is how, and that's where I ask you blokes smile.gif

What do you mean by the "flashed" firmware, do you mean the firmware flashed on your PSP (1.5) or the firmware that DevHook is running (2.71)?
Since you say you know how to swap buttons on 1.5, I am assuming you mean the 2.71 that DevHook is running. To get the inverted buttons on the (emulated) XMB, I think you will need to get the Japanese 2.71 firmware files for DevHook and replace the EU/USA ones in MS:\DH\271\. Maybe someone else can tell you an easier way but changing the firmware dump to a Japanese one should work.

Damn, I just saw a japanese 2.71 firmware yesterday. But I can't remember where I saw it.
Shadownspawn
Yeah, I mean the firmware Dev Hook is running. Sorry for being unclear.
I suppose changing to Japanese 2.71 files would do it, the problem is to find it...
If you jdm find it, please post it here smile.gif

Yea, it was still in my recycle bin, and now i'm tryin to find where I got it from, if I can't find it, then I guess i'll just upload it myself.

Aha! I found it. You'll have to change all the settings again (name, theme, all that good stuff)

Thanks, I have replaced the files from that pack and it works smile.gif
It's exactly as I want it, besides one little thing. When you exit UMD game with home button, it is still X to confirm somehow.
But I'm satisfied, confirming with O in menus is most important. I was going mad before when one XMB was Japanese way, and the DH one inverted.
Thanks again smile.gif

By inverted do you mean ' pressing X to confirm'? I have the same problem but the other way round when using devhook 4.6 its O to confirm however, i keep pressing X lol, and in the devhook 'mod' or something its even more confusing due to the fact thats X to confirm? OMG, lol. OH, and i think metal gear is O to confirm too. My mind is not complex.
Shadownspawn
Apparently Japanese standard is confirming with O, and cancelling with X. Even with games, and they are remapped on the USA/EU market. Don't know why Metal Gear wasn't :-\
Complex as it is, I am very used to the O as confirming in the PSP menus tongue.gif
Back when I bought my first PSP in Japan, there was no remapping homebrew, so I just had to learn it that way. And it's quite stuck now, so stuck I rather stick to it smile.gif

Quite funny how we have different standards. But following the symbols, the Japanese set up is most correct. Even if I do prefer using X as action and confirming button in games. Confusing wink.gif
allsorts111
prefer to use X as really as you said to you confirming with O has become a routine, as ive had the ps1, ps2 and psp ive always used X... so really i dont think i would be able to change! LOL

Yep, same here. I finally downgraded my jap white psp yesterday, and the first thing I did was swap the buttons to the US config.

Nice, looks like it's time to change your sig then:
"And a white 2.71 because i'm an idiot." can at last become:
"And a white 1.5 thanx to the 2.71 downgrader." smile.gif

Dammit, I knew I forgot something else. I just changee my "PSP Firmware Version" to 1.5, and I forgot all about my sig. tongue.gif
