mycooltoast
oh heres a 40gb one http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/s.nl;jses...427&it=A&id=768
bodhii
what we need is someone to make an empty case like an external pc hardrive case with a controller so we can choose were the files are going then put our own hard disk in it must be much cheaper
Bezerker
you wouldnt be able to play the iso's off of that, you'd still need a memory card to play the iso's.
bodhii
yeh i know but this could hold the isos then just swop out the ones u want its a lot smaller than carrying a laptop about

Why not go ahead and store them on a laptop? External HDD's are best for backing up. Most laptops these days come with 30GB+ hard drives. So, if you can carry a laptop, why carry even more?
bodhii
what i meen is dump the laptop just carry the mobile hard disk and swap between mobile hard drive and psp
Noveed
i hope sony release an official one or some company release a 3rd party one coz then it would be christmas for the pirates tongue.gif

Sorry how does that make sence. How are you going to transfer the stuff from the HD to the PSP without a laptop? If you find a way give me a shout.

-Leafz
Bezerker
Mobile harddrives have their own LCD screen and battery source so you can select what you transfer to the PSP without a laptop.
bodhii
ive seen one at my local computer fair its just a case with a lcd screen a few buttons and various different card slots its only slightly larger than the 2.5" hard disk its designed to enclose you can transfer in eather direction ie duo - harddrive or harddrive - duo or harddrive to computer its £35 without the 2.5" harddisk my get 1 to try

My Vosonic 6320 is a card reader, 60gb hard drive, video player, USB drive (with USB OTG feature), and audio player all in one...works perfect for psp

I picked up one of these...a 40 gig one. The Apacer Share Steno CD311. It works great, it does exactly what it should. However the transfer times between the unit and the PSP are a tad on the slow side. It is still great to be able to bring all your ISO's, videos, music etc with you on trips though. But this is not the type of thing you will really use around town. The slow transfer rate makes it JUST inconvenient enough IMO that it isn't much use except for long trips. I only have a 1 GB memory stick though, with a 2 gig it might be better, who knows.
superdude159
do those even work on psp?
xlukazx
^ yea.

i have a 60 gb external hard drive... can i somehow use it w/ my psp?
k3zz
that wouldn't be to practical, it won't be so portable anymore. Im good with a 1gb stick.
razil_zul
It will only work if ur hard disk is has an usb port in it an can act as a server. otherwise its useless
justin.mah
I agree with razil_zul

The external harddrive must be able to act as a slave device (to connect to a laptop/PC) and act as a file host for media devices like the PSP.

It may be portable but it's not very practical. You would also have to worry about how you are going to keep the external drive charged (does it run off a battery?), and I can imagine that the transfer rate will be slower.

It's a pretty neat concept, I haven't really seen anyone use this idea yet, so I have no idea how useful it would be. The only place I can see it being useful is if you are going on a long trip with no access to your computer.

how long would it take to take a movie about 300mb to transfer to a psp from one of these devices

Antwan Rockamora says he has the one from expansys. He said it was a little slow, but not that slow surely!

Antwan Rockamora, if you're about, how about a quick review on this thing. How you getting on with it? What's battery life, transfer time and such like?

Please.... cool.gif

I bought this device called Fotochute for about $80.

It has 20.0 Gigs and it's about the size of a deck of cards... I haven't had a chance to test it out yet but for the price, i thought it was a pretty good value.

I'm hoping to use it to store some mp4s and transfer them onto my PSP memory stick whenever I need them... also, this will be great with my digital camera so that I can backup all my pictures (when there's no desktop around) so I don't have to worry about running out of space ever again.

I realize this thread is old, but figured i would post anyway. I've got a Transcend, and it honestly works like a charm. It only takes a max of 5 minutes to move a file from my PSP to the drive, delete it, and add a new on to the MS. After that, I power the drive down. It does come in really handy on long trips when you have to pack light, or just to show your awesome dorkiness. I got mine for both reasons of course, and think it is quite solid.
