Keita Takahashi is done with the Katamari series he helped create at Namco. Though Takahashi came back into the fold to help steer the sequel We Love Katamari, he had absolutely no involvement in the PSP spin-off Me & My Katamari, and he claims no interest in being involved in any future installments in the series.
Many assumed the Katamari series as a whole would be over after Me & My Katamari's mixed response from gamers and the creator's indifference, but Takahashi told Gamasutra in an interview conducted during the Game Developers Conference this year that he fully expects Namco to eventually go forward with more Katamari games.

"I know I won't be working on it right now, but I think Namco will probably continue it. It's still a viable franchise. I had nothing to do with the PSP version, so clearly they can keep making them on their own," he said to the website. "So yeah, I won't be having anything to do with it anymore, but Katamari is not finished."

As for what he's working on next, Takahashi is keeping quiet outside of confirming it's for a next-generation system that's not Nintendo Wii, but he personally doesn't anticipate the game selling as well as Katamari did because "we're really trying to push boundaries with it."
