Following the takeover of BenQ’s optical disc drive (ODD) unit, Lite-On IT has landed loader orders for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game console with volume shipments slated to start in the third quarter, according to the company.

Lite-On IT inherited the loader orders from BenQ and the company recently gained validation from Microsoft.

BenQ reportedly landed the orders in January via its joint-venture with Philips, Philips BenQ Digital Storage (PBDS).

Before PBDS secured orders from Microsoft, Hitachi LG Data Storage (HLDS) was the sole OEM maker of DVD-ROM drive modules for Xbox 360 consoles.
