Hey,

I just tried to charge my PSP but it won't work sad.gif

I plug in the charger in my PSP but the little LED light doesn't turn on and my PSP won't charge! AHHH

Anyone have any solutions?

Make sure everything is plugged in correctly in your charger and try different outlets around your house check the voltage/current of the plug if you have a multimeter
wazzier
no multimeter here but ive tried different outlets, im let to be successful

You probably have a crashed battery.

Try taking out the battery and putting it back in. Check the Battery Information in the settings to see what is happening. If your battery isn't full and it says Completely Charged then you've probably got a crashed battery.

doesnt that mean the power isnt going in at all?

If its just a problem with your battery then its the battery's fault, if you can still turn on your psp when plugged in, its the battery's fault - go send it to sony for a new one i would suspect

did u ever played with it pluged into an outlet with no battery pack in it? becuz i heard that it wreaks the psp if u do
Ninkul
it technically shouldnt, they sell those little battery pack things that plug into your psp and they're advertised as "you dont need your origonal battery to use this" and sony could sue them for wrecking your psp like that i guess. Not sure

I doubt Sony would be too worried - they'd sell more replacement PSPs smile.gif

However, using the PSP while it's charging shouldn't cause any problems at all. All it's doing is redirecting some of the charging current towards operation. Unless there's a major power spike which may well fry it anyway (mine usually charges off USB so no mains voltage to worry about), it should be fine.

But yeah, if it doesn't go with the battery but does when it's plugged in, then it'd be a dead battery, which happens - _might_ be covered by warranty depending on company policy. It could also be a faulty charger assuming you're using the correct one, you could try buying one of the inexpensive USB charging cables and see if that works, they're pretty handy anyway.

Try finding someone with a meter and make sure that there is in fact 5Volts (centre is positive, it might output as high as 6.5V) coming out of the adaptor plug.

The power adaptor for the PSP is rated at 2A - that's a heckuva lot of current for such a small gadget, how much does the PSP actually draw at peak!? (333Mhz, UMD going, max brightness...). Not that it matters, better to have a higher rating than risk blowing it up with excessive drain wink.gif
