Wow, I just played this game, and it is AMAZING, I'm a big sucker for top down shooters (I bought a GC just for Ikaruga). And truthfully I was a little dissapointed in Ikaruga. But thats another discussion

This game has all the old school quirks that makes these genre of games awesome.. A ridiculous amount of enemies and bullets, and TONS of Explodable boxes and bonus stuff.. You play this game thinking every second could be your last, Cause theres shit loads of bullets flying all over hell. And the best part of this game is the fact that you get a rechargable special blaster attack. And not only does it kick the enemies asses, it saves you from bullets too! (the only way you can survive this game anyway) Though for a REAL challenge try never using it HAHA, that would be nuts.

The PSP on the side thing is such a smart idea, Its taller than the old school arcade machines.

Anyways my rant being over, Anyone agree / disagree?

disagree psp UMD games should be new like wipeout old port new stuff but thay put some of the old tracks for fun but the new Star Soldier is said to have no wifi dumb if you ask me

Well yes, I've missed top down shooters cause of the last few consoles serious lack of them.

But Like I said I think this is the best PSP game so far. Ive already racked up like 10 hours on the game

I'd agree with you in the lack of these games, but as I don't own the game or demo'ed it. I cannot give a full response, though optimusprime has given a nice review for it. Go post about your thoughts in there too if you'd like

Almost bought a DC for that DC more nostalgic, ah... ikaruga is so good... i just ended up emulating it, chankast runs it fine on my comp

I disagree, Star Soldier got old for me pretty quickly. A lack of multiplayer turned me off as well.

I wouldn't say that Star Soldiers is the BEST game out, but I do give them props of utilizing the PSP's wide screen to play the game vertically!

Star Soldier does kick ass. I like how they incorporated the vertical view and the classic tune it plays when you turn invisible from the nes version. Sorry to say though, I'm addicted to that damn Hot Shots Golf .

I agree, more shooters for PSP please! and explain why Ikaruga sucked for GC also, as I don't think it was 1/2 bad =)

I agree. Star Soldier is one of the best game out there! But doesn't it have game-sharing? My version is in English and there's normal mode, 2 min mode, 5 min mode, and game-sharing mode for multiplayer. Are yours in English? I think my version is the PAL version.

edit: Never mind. I found out it's not really wifi play. (wow I edit a lot)

SS isn't the best game out there... but in a landscape of very few great games, it's a good one.

But I just wanna say that I find hte holding-the-psp-upright damn uncomfortable. Maybe I'm missing some obvious position.

I can't stop playing Wipeout for similar reasons though: reminds me of the good ol' days of Wipeout and Wipeout 2097.
