I was wondering if anyone has deleted any files that weren't needed in order to make the file size of spiderman smaller. its too big imo i want to have several games on one memory stick instead of having to carry many with me. any help is appreciated.
Harry
You can't rip ISO files to work with FastLoad at the moment.

Read this post over at maxconsole. Talks about software that can create iso's. Some users have ripped their games n working successfully..

maxconsole - iso creation

Yeah, I just got Wipeout down to 119 MB (lost a lot of the music tho...) Might be able to get it a little smaller, but fitting on a 128MB card was the goal, and it's been achieved... smile.gif

Can't get maxconsole to work right now... (get a forum error), but I'd imagine they are talking about the same thing I found here (some asian VCD maker or something... all I know is that it works. smile.gif )

thanks for the replies. i didn't get maxconsole to work either, but i guess my wishes sorta came true with these new iso shrinkers. i'm sure with time more will be released to accommodate most games.

WOW, great, which files do you rip and does the web browser work?
Psycho
Heh, forgot about the browser... smile.gif (I've been using the Tenchi one). I'll have to look for that, if there's an interest in stripping it down as much as possible and just leaving the browser functioning, I can look into that...

I've removed all the Targa files that show up when you click on your gold medals, the intro video (which for some reason is in the game 3 times...), and then replaced 16 of the 19 songs with a single, short clip (the music that plays when you just insert the UMD in the drive).

I can remove all the music completely and probably drop it another 10 megs or so...

To get it smaller than that I'd have to experiment with removing tracks and vehicles, but that would probably cause the game to crash at certain points... smile.gif

The Techni one is good and fast but has no back function, so I will stick with the Wipeout browser in the near future. And yeah, I really hate Wipeout but I need the browser and ripping all the stuff out would be great.

But where do you find the music and video files? I have only some .WAD files in my USRDIR, a DevMenu.cfg and the PRX folder.
Psycho
You can put a line of script in your Index.html file to act as a back button (for the Tenchi browser), and then all you have to do is hit 3 keys really quick and it acts like a back button. I've gotten surprisingly used to it... smile.gif

So far I've gotten Wipeout down to 27 MB with the browser still working. You can zero-out all the .WADs except the two FE ones and the big DATA wad. Then you have to extract the Data wad, zero out whatever you think isn't important, recreate the wad and see if it crashes... smile.gif I can probably get it smaller, but only by a few megs. But it does fit on a 32MB card now. (Just don't try to run anything other than the browser or it will crash...) I'm going to attempt to get it smaller over the weekend, watch this thread over the weekend... smile.gif

For spiderman you might be able to fit it on a 512. What I did is replace all the movies with the intro activision logo. So at the beginning of each level I see the activision logo. I got mine down to about 480 or so, but there is a smaller file that you could use to replace the movies with. Keep in mind I renamed one small movie to fit the names of the bigger movies that I deleted, and did that several times. If you cant live w/o the movies then go buy a 1gig stick b/c I think if you just rip the audio, it still wont be small enough to fit on a 512. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
